On Today's ProgramObama's spiritual woes Barack Obama's defense for the racist and anti-American remarks made by his pastor of 20 years was that he didn't hear those kinds of remarks while he was there. Okay, well how does he explain the latest comments by one of his other spirtual advisors, who said that the 'N-word is a term of endearment'? Read the transcript. Insiders listen here to the 'reverend's' comments and Glenn's reaction. Tonight on TV: Another Pastor Problem? More on this story tonight, 7 and 9 ET. Monkey business Have you ever caught your child climbing all over the furniture or deck or something around the house and called them a 'monkey'? If so, you are a racist! It's the latest example of political correctness gone wild, and its stories like these that have Glenn ready to check himself into an institution. Read the madness here. Judges blocked Every president since Jimmy Carter has appointed at least 14 judges in their last two years. George W. Bush has 6 (Carter had 44). Why? Because Democrats are stalling and holding up the process. As Senator Orrin Hatch puts it, 'partisanship isn't always bad, but when it's always partisanship it's just bad' and in his 31 years serving in the Government he says partisanship has never been worse. Senator Hatch talked with Glenn today about this and Obama's latest wacky spiritual advisor. Read the transcript. Insiders listen here. Dead Heat Joel Rosenberg is over in Israel right now where he is speaking at a celebration for Israel's 60th anniversary. Iran is in the news because they are stepping up their nuclear efforts and in a completely unrelated story the schools in Israel are running emergency drills almost daily. Glenn talks about that and the two ponder who the anti-christ could be. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

On Today's ProgramShock video Teens in Polk County Florida were arrested after they plotted to make a popular YouTube video by luring a friend to a house where they forced her to stay while they beat on her----for 30 minutes. The police released a three minute version of the tape and it is very, very disturbing. The girls can be heard cheering on the assailant, and at one point someone yells out 'don't break the shelves'. Even more disturbing is the mom of one of the teen girls---who seems to be defending her daughter because the victim 'shouldn't be talking trash on Myspace'. Read Glenn's comments and watch a clip of the vicious beating here or Insiders can listen here. Mark Steyn Mark wrote one of Glenn's favorite books, 'America Alone', which is now out in paperback, and he talked to Glenn today about this YouTube beating video. What is causing our kids to seek fame through the taped beating of a friend? Glenn and Mark discussed this and much more on todays radio program. Read the transcritpt here, Insiders listen to the audio here. Glenn meets Ventura Glenn had an unfortunate run in during make-up at CNN with former Governor Jesse Ventura. What started with a friendly hello turned into 'I eat people like you'. Turns out Mr. Ventura is one of those who believe the government blew up the World Trade Centers. When Glenn realized this, he reacted in the only way he knew how. Read the transcript here, Insiders listen here. McCain like Reagan? John McCain is always calling himself a Reagan foot soldier, but is he? In the latest issue of Fusion Magazine, there is a three policy analysis that compares Ronald Reagan and John McCain. How does the Maverick stack up against the Gipper? Check out Fusion Magazine to find out. Tonight on TV A Florida high school cheerleader gets the beating of a lifetime from her 'friends'. Why? Because of a posting she made to her "My Space" page. The attackers video-taped the assault and threatened to put it on YouTube. With this Glenn asks 'Is fame more important than humanity for kids today?' Watch tonight at 7pm Eastern only on Headline News.

On Today's Program
Media loving Obama Despite Obama's speech on race being anything but a complete denouncing of Reverend Wright, the media has fallen in love with the latest Obama speech. The New York Times called it 'Obama's Profile in Courage' - actually, they should have called it Obama's 'profile in reactionary politics' as he wouldn't be giving this speech if he didn't get caught having an anti-American pastor for 20 years. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here). Where's the heat? Only NPR could cover this story on Global Warming this way. Scientists sent some 3,000 robots into the ocean to measure ocean temps. The result? The oceans haven't warmed at all. In fact they have cooled slightly. But don't worry, NPR is there to explain away this mystery. Dollar reacts to rate cut Steven Moore joined Glenn to talk about what the Fed has been doing lately with all of these rate cuts. Moore says that the Fed has got it all wrong---inflation is too many dollars chasing too few goods and there are too many dollars out there so it makes no sense for the Fed to lower the rate, which will only create an influx of dollars into the economy. As usual, the government adds to or creates more problems when it gets involved. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here). My Bad, Your Fault Since personal responsibility seems to be dead, with government bailing out people and companies every time something goes wrong, Glenn thought he'd make sure America had at least one more chance to read this piece on dealing with your responsibilities like a grown up. On Today's Program
Obama's spiritual mess Senator Barack Obama's pastor has put him on the defensive by saying some pretty outrageous comments, and showing a 'profound misunderstanding' of America (according to Obama). Unfortunately, the comments are not isolated as more and more are surfacing every day. Obama refuses to distance himself from Pastor Wright, and only says that he disagrees with some of Wright's comments. Some of the Pastor's comments during his teachings include '...not God Bless America...God damn America' and 'the U.S. KKK of A' and of course 'Hillary ain't never been called a (n-word)'. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here). Watch his comments in these clips: ABC Report with several clips: Watch the video. Saying Hillary hasn't been called a... Watch the video. Glenn reacts to Obama's speech Senator Obama decided to address this issue head on, and deliver a speech about race in America. Huh? What does this have to do with race? If Pastor Wright were white and saying similar things, then Glenn would still have a problem with them. Glenn TIVO's the speech and goes through it piece by piece, dissecting it at every turn. (Insiders listen here). Amazing Glenn! Perhaps his fastest correct prediction ever, Glenn came out yesterday and predicted that since there were no conservatives standing up to these big corporate bailouts (by the government) that there will be no defense when libs start begging for individual bailouts (like mortgage bailouts) from the government. Harry Reid spoke yesterday and helped Glenn achieve his fastest ever correct prediction. Read about it here. (Insiders listen here).

My Thoughts on Journalism

I am not the only one of the opinion that, when it comes to news radio, that the conservative viewpoint is what is listened to the most. The top three radio hosts are Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck (in that order) and host their own shows Monday-Friday. All three are conservatives who tell their side of what they believe is awaiting our country if the liberals take control of our government.

What I find interesting is that people consider these three men to be worse than the terrorists themselves. Now, I will admit to not liking everything about them. I think Rush is overconfident and obnoxious. Glenn is convinced that at any moment the world will end. Sean is one of them that I don't listen to very often, but that's mostly because of his time slot. At any rate, these three are only doing their jobs and they must be doing something right because holding spots number one, two, and three isn't anything to sneeze at. However, this could all change if the government has anything to say about it.

The government is looking to pass what is basically considered a fairness act. Instead of programs being aired because of ratings, programs would be aired based on content and each side would have an equal amount of time throughout the day to voice their opinions. In my own opinion, this would be tragic. Radio stations would lose money because people won't listen to what they don't like. Then the government would have to help keep the stations afloat and spend more of the money they don't have. Keep your eyes open folks because it's coming.

On Today's ProgramHow the liberal media works You've seen it a million times before---Keith Olberman naming Glenn worst person in the world. What you haven't seen a million times before is the in-depth research Keith does to select his prey each night on TV. It's very difficult, actually, and it involves reading a liberal blog. But how does the baseless attack on Glenn get all the way to the New York Times? Glenn shows you how the liberal media works here. ALERT: Don't miss The Real Story tonight on TV as Glenn goes even deeper to expose how the liberal media works---7pm eastern only on Headline News. Harvard caves to Muslim demands Political correctness has run even more amok at Harvard, where the University has caved to the demands of six Muslim female students. They didn't want men in there watching them work out so Harvard shut men out of the gym while the women are there. Proponents claim it's just a small concession to make---but Glenn says that's BS and has a tip for the Muslim women: assimilate. Glenn explains what would have happened to him if Mercury Radio Arts forgot to pay workman's compensation for its employees. Read the transcript. (Insiders listen here).

Why I Post those Newsletters

Readers,

The reason I post the Rush and Glenn newsletters is to show that I do listen to the programs and am interested in what these people have to say. I've subscribed to the newsletters to get more information on show topics. These should also be seen as a way to track, not just what is on each show everyday, but where our country is going and how radio is involved. If we are not very careful in who we vote for, we will no longer get to hear the highest rated programs on the radio. There are complaints that there is only conservative talk on the radio. Well, that may be true, but I would argue that there is only liberal talk on TV.

Radio Show Newsletters

You've probably seen that I've posted a newsletter from Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. The reason for this is to show a little bit of who I am and what I believe in. I am a conservative and listen to these two talk show hosts every now and then, although not as much as I used to. However, I do not intend to make this blog political. Instead, I wanted to use them every now and then to show what's been going on in radio news.

From the Glenn Beck Newsletter 2-22-08

**SPECIAL REPORT: Emulating FDR is a horrible idea**This is the final special report in a week-long series with author Jonah Goldberg, investigating how Liberal Fascism is trying to control your life from the cradle to the grave. Don't miss tonight on TV as Glenn spends a full hour with Jonah Goldberg at 7 and 9pm ET, only on Headline News. And look for a recap of this series, the TV segments and the special reports will all be included in Monday's newsletter. Emulating FDR: A horrible idea By Jonah Goldberg "America has a dictator," Benito Mussolini proclaimed, watching FDR from abroad. He marveled at how the forces of "spiritual renewal" on display in the New Deal were destroying the outdated notion that democracy and liberalism were "immortal principles." "Roosevelt is moving, acting, giving orders independently of the decisions or wishes of the Senate or Congress. ... A sole will silences dissenting voices." That almost sounds like Harry Reid talking about Bush. Mussolini reviewed FDR's book, Looking Forward proclaiming the author a kindred spirit. The way Roosevelt "calls his readers to battle," he wrote, "is reminiscent of the ways and means by which fascism awakened the Italian people." "Without question," he continued, the "sea change" in America "resembles that of fascism." Indeed, the comparisons were so commonplace, Mussolini's press office banned the practice. "It is not to be emphasized that Roosevelt's policy is fascist because these comments are immediately cabled to the United States and are used by his foes to attack him." The German press adored FDR. In 1934, the Vlkischer Beobachter, the Nazi Party's official newspaper, described Roosevelt as a man of "irreproachable, extremely responsible character and immovable will" and a "warm-hearted leader of the people with a profound understanding of social needs." Hitler sent FDR a letter celebrating his "heroic efforts" and "successful battle against economic distress." Hitler informed the U.S. ambassador, William Dodd, that New Dealism was also "the quintessence of the German state philosophy." The New Dealers were not so much mimicking the Soviet Union, Fascist Italy or Nazi Germany. They were attempting to recreate what they had built -up under Woodrow Wilson's war socialism. Today we have no historical memory of how brutal the Wilson Administration was, nor do we realize that many Progressives supported the war not so much because they championed its foreign policy aims, but because they yearned for the "social possibilities of war," in the words of John Dewey, the 20th century's premier political philosopher. The war provided an opportunity to force Americans to, as journalist Frederick Lewis Allen put it, "lay by our good-natured individualism and march in step." Or as another progressive put it, "Laissez faire is dead. Long live social control." It was this spirit which informed FDR's administration. By 1944 he made good on Wilson's conviction that the US constitution was outmoded and in need of replacing with a new "living constitution." FDR's proposed innovation was a new "economic bill of rights" which included: >The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation. >The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment. >The right of every family to a decent home. >The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation. You read correctly, the right to 'recreation'. With the intellectuals on their side, Wilson recruited journalist George Creel to become a propaganda minister as head of the newly formed Committee on Public Information (CPI). Mr. Creel declared that it was his mission to inflame the American public into "one white-hot mass" under the banner of "100 percent Americanism." Fear was a vital tool, he argued, "an important element to be bred in the civilian population." The CPI printed millions of posters, buttons, pamphlets, that did just that. A typical poster for Liberty Bonds cautioned, "I am Public Opinion. All men fear me!... [I]f you have the money to buy and do not buy, I will make this No Man's Land for you!" Meanwhile, the CPI released a string of propaganda films with such titles as "The Kaiser," "The Beast of Berlin," and "The Prussian Cur." Remember when French fries became "freedom fries" in the run-up to the Iraq war? Thanks in part to the CPI, sauerkraut become "victory cabbage." Under the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Sedition Act of 1918, Wilson's administration shut down newspapers and magazines at an astounding pace. Indeed, any criticism of the government, even in your own home, could earn you a prison sentence. One man was brought to trial for explaining in his own home why he didn't want to buy Liberty Bonds. The Wilson administration sanctioned what could be called an American fascist, the American Protective League. The APL - a quarter million strong at its height, with offices in 600 cities - carried government-issued badges while beating up dissidents and protesters and conducting warrantless searches and interrogations. Even after the war, Wilson refused to release the last of America's political prisoners, leaving it to subsequent Republican administrations to free the anti-war Socialist Eugene V. Debs and others. The left claims that president Bush seeks to do something like this with the war on terror. But look at the evidence. No newspapers closed down, a sum total of three detainees water-boarded, two hard core terrorists who happen to be American citizens have had their habeus corpus rights "infringed." After 9/11 President Bush asked the American people to go shopping, not to give up capitalism. Meanwhile, on the left, self-styled progressives keep trying to recreate the New Deal and the progressive era. New York Times columnist pines for a "new progressive era." Barack Obama gushed about how he was re-dedicating his campaign at the University of Wisconsin where the Progressive movement was born. Hillary says she's not a liberal but a "modern progressive." Now, obviously, none of the current crop of self-described progressives are eager to replay the darkest chapters of the past. But we make a mistake when we assume that we can cherry pick only the good parts of our past to re-create. Jonah Goldberg is the author of the New York Times bestseller Liberal Fascism.

My Interest

The reason I chose this topic was because of my fascination with radio in all its formats. I'll admit that there are some that I like more than others, but I'd say I'm no different than most people. I saw my first studio when I was about 10-12 years old. I became even more fascinated with radio after hearing some of the old time radio programs that my grandpa had copies of. Call me whatever you want, but I enjoy using my imagination to see the scene as opposed to being shown somebody else's vision of it. Anyway, I figured I should throw this post in there just as some background on me and why I would pick such a topic.

Radio Formats

This link will take you to a site that explains the different kinds of formats. I've been most interested in News/Talk for a long time and that would probably be my dream job if I could do anything. Anyway, enjoy clicking around.
